Lawyers Hopeful As Housing Market Heals

Camellia Kuo was quoted in a Nov. 14, 2012 Daily Journal article about slow recovery in the housing market and real estate attorneys' hope that the trend will continue upward. The article cites figures from the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index that indicate builder confidence in new single-family homes had risen for the sixth month in a row, and was at its highest level since June 2006.
 
Kuo provided the paper with California Department of Real Estate figures that indicate that home building is on the rise, noting that, as of late, there have been a lot of “tentative ventures into the marketplace.”
 
According to those figures, in September of 2011 there were 114 filings for single-family homes, a figure that rose to 205 for the same month this year. Kuo said over the past couple of years her legal teams has worked on mostly smaller projects, like acquisitions of distressed properties, but is happy to finally see new opportunities emerge.
 
“The market hasn't roared back, but it's much busier than it was,” she told the paper. “And for me, it's nice to get back to my bread and butter.”
