San Francisco, CA (May 8, 2013) – Noting her work in the renewable energy space, the Daily Journal has named Anne E. Mudge among California's Top Women Lawyers. A partner in Cox Castle & Nicholson's San Francisco office, Mudge chairs the firm's Renewable Energy and Climate Change practice and is known as one of the state's top siting and permitting attorneys.

Throughout her career, Mudge has been involved in the development of thousands of megawatts of renewable energy in the Western United States, guiding major energy plants and residential, commercial and industrial developments through the permitting process. As a land-use litigator, she has numerous published land-use decisions and more than 20 years of experience in a range of areas, including with CEQA, NEPA, zoning and planning, wetlands and endangered species, water supply planning, coastal development, and the Williamson Act.

In a Daily Journal article released in conjunction with its Top Women Lawyers list, the newspaper highlighted Mudge’s continued work on what will be the country’s largest wind project, the 1,020-megawatt Alta Wind Energy Center located in the Tehachapi Mountains as well as projects that have recently come online including the 265-megawatt Ocotillo Express Wind Energy Facility in Imperial County and the 250-megawatt Beacon Solar Energy Project in Kern County.

The Daily Journal also noted her permitting work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department with regard to wind projects that will lay the groundwork for protecting eagles and other endangered species. Mudge told the newspaper that obtaining such permits would be crucial for future wind projects and the financing ofthose projects.

“We’re designing the protocols as we go along because there isn’t a template for this, so it is pretty pioneering,” she told the Daily Journal.
