Daily Journal Names Amy Wells One Of California's Top Women Lawyers
Century City, CA (May 7, 2014) – Cox Castle Nicholson partner Amy Wells has been named as one of the Daily Journal’s Top Women Lawyers of 2014. Each year, the publication honors distinguished women lawyers who are at the top of their practice, and Ms. Wells is being recognized for her representation of institutional investors in their real estate and private equity transactions. Ms. Wells is the co-lead partner of the firm's institutional investor team, and represents some of the largest public pension funds in the U.S. She works on both domestic and international transactions, including current investments in China, South Africa and Vietnam, as well as a range of domestic transactions, assisting public pension funds in their investment activities to help generate the returns that pay retirement benefits to teachers, firemen, policeman and other public employees.
In a Daily Journal article released in conjunction with its Top Women Lawyers list, the publication also highlights Wells’ work for some of her public pension fund clients, such as her representation of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, the Alaska Permanent Fund and the State of Wisconsin Investment Board in their investment activities.
“Regardless of whether the deal is cutting edge or a traditional real estate or private equity transaction, each deal is unique and each client has specific concerns and objectives that need to be met in the negotiation of each investment,” Wells told the publication. “The result is that I get to work on a lot of unique investments that involve a lot of creative drafting and negotiating.”
