John Matthew Trott, a partner in the Los Angeles office of leading real estate law firm Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP, was recently elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. He joins an elite group of attorneys nationally recognized for their leadership and professional excellence.

The American Bar Foundation is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, and law professors whose professional, public, and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.

“It is an honor to be elected,” said Trott “I have a great deal of respect for the activities of the American Bar Foundation and its dedication to the advancement of justice through research.”

Mr. Trott has a practice focused on acquisition, disposition, financing and development of commercial and multi-family residential properties. He is an active member of the Real Property Section of the American Bar Association, and has been selected as a Super Lawyer® in the practice of Real Estate law by his peers in the Southern California legal community. He has published multiple articles on finance issues for legal and business publications.

Mr. Trott completed his preparatory education at Pomona College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1989 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Following Pomona, Mr. Trott received a Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in 1992. In 1997, Mr. Trott received his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law, and served as the Managing Editor of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law.
